Erneut Raketenangriff auf Camp Taji – keine deutschen Verwundeten

Zum zweiten Mal innerhalb weniger Tage ist ein Camp internationaler Truppen im Irak mit einer Raketensalve angegriffen worden. Bei dem Angriff auf Camp Taji nördlich von Bagdad wurden drei Angehörige der internationalen Anti-IS-Koalition und zwei Iraker verwundet. Deutsche Soldaten, die in dem Feldlager stationiert sind, blieben unverletzt.

Der erneute Angriff mit einer Salve von mindestens 25 Raketen des Kalibers 107mm ereignete sich um 10:51 Uhr Ortszeit (8:41 MEZ), wie der Sprecher der Koalitions-Operation Inherent Resolve mitteilte:

Die Bundeswehr hatte zuvor bereits mitgeteilt, dass von den deutschen Soldaten im Camp niemand betroffen war:

Am 14.März 2020 gegen 08:50 Uhr Mitteleuropäischer Zeit (MEZ) schlugen im multinationalen Camp im zentralirakischen Taji bei der Anti-IS-Mission Counter Daesh/Capacity Building Iraq mehrere Geschosse ein. Deutsche Soldatinnen und Soldaten kamen nicht zu Schaden.

Bereits am 11. März war das Feldlager ebenfalls mit einer Raketensalve angegriffen worden. Dabei kamen zwei Angehörige des US-Militärs und eine britische Sanitäterin ums Leben. Bundeswehrsoldaten waren dabei unverletzt geblieben.

Nachtrag: Es gibt dazu auch eine Mitteilung des irakischen Oberkommandos, verbreitet vom Büro des Ministerpräsidenten. Und da wird auch Bezug darauf genommen, dass die USA als Reaktion auf den Angriff am 11. März ihrerseits Luftangriffe auf Stellungen geflogen haben, die pro-iranischen Milizen zugerechnet wurden – aber angeblich trafen diese Angriffe wiederum irakische Truppen:

Joint Operation Command Statement:
At exactly eleven o’clock in the morning, Saturday 14 March 2020, Camp Taji was subjected to another blatant attack. 33 Katyusha rockets struck Iraqi Air Defense Units nearby International Coalition Mission.
Our forces found seven rocket launchers inside a garage in the area of Abu ‚Adham near Al-Taji, north of the capital, Baghdad. When located, it was discovered that 24 rockets did not fire.
This attack caused the injury of a number of members of the Air Defense, who are in a critical condition.
The Joint Operations Command confirmed that it will take all measures to prosecute and arrest those who carried out the attack. The JOC-I has made it clear that Iraq’s security cannot be interfered with. Any attempts to interfere with Iraqi policy and sovereignty will fail and face prosecution.
Those who conducted this attack must declare themselves to be dealt with by the law. The JOC-I considers any party that mobilizes and legitimizes these actions as a potential partner.
We also refuse that the American forces or others take any action without the approval of the Iraqi government and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, as they did on the morning of 3/13/2020. In doing so, it does not limit these actions, but rather nurtures them, weakens the Iraqi state’s ability to provide its own security, and expects more losses for Iraqis. This necessitates the speedy implementation of the Parliament’s decision on the issue of the Coalition’s withdrawal.
JOC-I also calls on all our people to not hesitate to report and provide information to the intelligence agencies on these elements that are acting outside the law. The Iraqi people and their security forces, with all their formations, including the army, the police, the PMF, TMF, and Peshmerga forces, will eventually achieve security and peace.
