‚Atlantic Resolve‘: US-Hubschrauberbrigade kommt für neun Monate nach Europa

Nach der Verlegung einer zusätzlichen Panzerbrigade der U.S. Army nach (Ost)Europa werden am kommenden Wochenende, wie angekündigt, die ersten Hubschrauber einer US-Heeresfliegerbrigade in Bremerhaven erwartet. Die 10th Combat Aviation Brigade aus Fort Drum im US-Bundesstaat New York werde mit insgesamt 86 Hubschraubern für neun Monate nach Europa kommen, teilte die U.S. Army am (heutigen) Donnerstag mit.

Das Hauptquartier der Brigade und meisten Helikopter sollen in Illesheim in Bayern stationiert werden; zeitweise werden Hubschrauber in osteuropäische NATO-Länder verlegt. Die vorübergehende Stationierung der Transport- und Kampfhubschrauber in Europa ist Teil der US-Operation Atlantic Resolve, die der Unterstützung der osteuropäischen NATO-Mitglieder und der Abschreckung gegenüber Russland dienen soll.

Die Ankunft der ersten Helikopter ist für kommenden Sonntag geplant; aus den Mitteilungen der U.S. Army in Europa dazu:

Forty-nine U.S. Army helicopters, as well as trucks and other support equipment, are scheduled to arrive at the Bremerhaven port to begin a nine-month rotation in support of Atlantic Resolve.
The troops and equipment from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, including UH-60L and UH-60M Blackhawk, AH-64D Apache and CH-47F Chinook helicopters will participate in exercises scheduled throughout Eastern Europe this year.
After arrival the brigade’s helicopters will fly to various training areas from Latvia to Romania, while trucks and other equipment are moved via rail. The personnel and equipment will later be relocated throughout the region for training and exercises with European allies.
Additional helicopters are on schedule to arrive at later dates.

Plans for a team to be based in Poland in the future
Missions will include medical transport, exercise support and aviation operations throughout Europe to improve interoperability and strengthen relationships
Supporting Operation Atlantic Resolve and other training and missions across Europe
The brigade will bring and return to home station with a majority of their equipment
