Recent incidents in the Northern part of Kosovo have shown the necessity to ensure proper policing and public safety in the area. KFOR, as an impartial mission, has full confidence in the local population and knows that this trust is mutual.
We are requesting all to fully support the orderly work of Kosovo Police and EULEX and to address political disputes in a peaceful manner only. Part of this joint effort will be a commitment to avoid racist, aggressive or inciting language as witnessed early this week.
KFOR would like to underline once more, that any individual or group storing, transporting or carrying weapons without adequate authorisation is assessed as a potential threat to a safe and secure environment.
KFOR, EULEX, Kosovo Police, and, within the defined limits of its mandate, the Kosovo Security Force, are the sole organisations authorised to carry arms.
