Today, a further deployment of 70 German troops of the 2nd Operational Reserve Force (ORF) Battalion landed in Kosovo. This is the second part of the ongoing deployment of 550 German and 150 Austrian soldiers, which is scheduled to last until next Monday.
Since yesterday, these troops are being deployed into Kosovo subsequent to a request by KFOR Commander Major General Erhard DREWS, following his assessment of an increase in tension in Kosovo. It is his decision as to when, where and how this reserve force will be utilized.
The soldiers of the ORF Battalion are arriving into Kosovo from their home units in Germany and Austria.
