Apologies to my readers: This entry serves to make available the current NOTAM (notices to airmen) for Ukrainian airspace, as the server where I found it (http://ibs.rlp.cz/notam.do?id=notam_UKXX&anode=notam_UKXX) seems not easily available. Hopefully, flight & air traffic pros can draw some conclusions from this latest information about regions in Ukraine (besides Crimea) where regular air traffic is restricted…
As my Dutch colleague Hans de Vreij noted, the airspace over Eastern Ukraine seemed pretty empty today. So maybe someone can correlate this to the NOTAMs?
Update: According to Swedish milblogger Wiseman’s Wisdoms there’s a buffer zone in place.

Schon paar Stunden alt, unconfirmed und von den USA dementiert. Einen Beleg, z.B. Fotos, gibt’s bislang nicht.
Als Flugsimulatorfan habe ich das eine oder andere schon mal gesehen, aber nicht in der Masse. Vielleicht haben die alle keine Lust, sich das durchzulesen, und machen deshalb der Einfachheit halber einen Bogen um die Region… ;-)

Die aufgezählten Temporary restricted areas gelten nämlich nur von Grund bis 1500 über mittlerer Meereshöhe. Betreffen damit keine Flüge im kontrollierten Luftraum.
das meiste ist alter müll… zum Ende hin werden mit Datum heute Polygone definiert.
Es liest sich so (bin ja kein Experte) als ob der Airspace über Simferopol nicht mehr durch Simferopol, sondern durch Odessa und Dnipopetrowsk koordiniert wird.
Zusätzlich ist in 398/14 eine Zone definiert, die auch aber zu faul war zu mappen – da ist das obere Limit allerdings nur 1500m AMSL.
Immerhin wird das auch in anderswo diskutiert – aber mein Russisch ist zu rostig.

Ansonsten sind Zonen für Raketen und Artillerie ausgeworfen, aber das ist nichts ungewöhnliches.
Das könnte eine Art Sperrzone für niedrige Höhen im Grenzgebiet zu Russland sein, um z.B. Hubschrauberflüge zu unterbinden, bzw. zu verbieten und dann evtl. mit Luftabwehr zu unterbinden.

Ein ausklammern von Simferopol durch Verlagerung von Aufgaben würde durchaus Sinn ergeben.
In der Summe sieht das so aus, als wäre die pro-russische Politik der Krim die erklärung für den verringerten Flugverkehr. In der Folge erkannte die Ukraine die Zuständigkeit von Simferopol als ACC (air control centre) ab und verteilte sie auf ACCs die sicher die Ukrainischen Interessen durchsetzen.
Damit unterbinden die NOTAM 398/14 und 399/14 jeden nicht pro-ukrainischen Flugverkehr im nicht-regulierten Flugraum und über alles drüber haben jetzt Odessa und Dnepopetrowsk die Kontrolle. Somit ist die Krim, was Luftraum angeht eigentlich raus, soweit ich das verstehe… die Flieger dürfen mich jetzt eines besseren belehren ;)
