As many as 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers are likely to have surrendered from the Mariupol Azovstal steel factory. An unknown number of Ukrainian forces remain inside the factory.
Once Russia has secured Mariupol, it is likely they will move their forces to reinforce operations in the Donbas.
Staunch Ukrainian resistance in Mariupol since the start of the war means Russian forces in the area must be re-equipped and refurbished before they can be redeployed effectively. This can be a lengthy process when done thoroughly.
Russian commanders, however, are under pressure to demonstrably achieve operational objectives. This means that Russia will probably redistribute their forces swiftly without adequate preparation, which risks further force attrition.

There are no significant changes in the state and position of units of the Armed Forces of the republic of belarus in the Volyn and Polissya areas. The threat of missile and bomb strikes remains from the territory of the republic of belarus.
On the Siversky direction the enemy carries out engineering equipment of positions around the settlement of Azarovka of the Bryansk region. It fired artillery and mortar shells at the settlements of Boyaro-Lezhachi, Brusky, Staryi Vyrky, Sumy Oblast, and Hremyach, Chernihiv Oblast.
In the Kharkiv direction, russian enemy’s main efforts are focused on maintaining the occupied frontiers. It tries to counterattack in order to restore the lost positions. Conducts enhanced air reconnaissance with the use of UAVs.
Fighting continued in the area of the settlements of Ternov and Vesele. In addition, russian enemy shelling was recorded near Ruski Tyshki.
In the Slovyansk direction, russian enemy fired on civilian infrastructure in the area of the settlements of Dovgenke, Velyka Komyshuvakha and Dolyna.
In the Donetsk direction, russian enemy intensified offensive and assault operations to improve the tactical situation. It inflicted fire damage from mortars, artillery, multiple rocket launchers and operational and tactical aircraft in order to destroy the fortifications of our units along the entire line of contact.
In the Lyman direction, russian enemy carries out periodic shelling of civilian infrastructure in the areas of the settlements of Dibrova and Zakitne.
In the Siverodonetsk direction, russian enemy carried out assault operations in the direction of the settlement of Siverodonetsk, had no success, suffered losses and was forced to retreat. Conducts hostilities in the area of Toshkivka.
In the Bakhmut direction, with the support of artillery and mortars, russian occupiers carried out offensive operations in the area of the settlement of Vyskryva, while trying to improve the tactical position of their units near Volodymyrivka and Vasylivka. russian occupiers suffered losses in the area of the settlement of Alexandropil.
In the Avdiivka direction, russian enemy, with the support of artillery, conducted assault and offensive operations in the area of the settlement of Vesele. It suffered losses and retreated.
In the Kurakhiv direction, russian enemy carried out massive artillery shelling of civilian infrastructure, including multiple rocket launchers. It led the offensive in the Novomykhailivka and Oleksandrivka districts, but was unsuccessful.
In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, russian enemy hit infrastructure and peaceful households with rocket and artillery and mortar fire, and waged a counter-battery struggle. In the area of the settlement of Novodarivka it suffered losses and retreated to its former positions.
russian invaders did not carry out active hostilities in the South Buh area. They fired on houses with mortars and artillery. The engineering equipment of the positions and the construction of the second line of defense continued.
There is a high probability of continuing hostilities in order to improve the tactical situation and reach the administrative border of Kherson region.
The situation in the Bessarabian direction remained without significant changes.

Fourteen enemy attacks were repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions over the past 24 hours, eight tanks, fourteen units of combat armoured vehicles and six units of enemy vehicles were destroyed. Air defense units shot down one Orlan-10 UAV.

During the day, high-precision air-based missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces have hit 4 command posts, 45 areas of manpower and military equipment concentration, as well as 7 ammunition and fuel depots near Bakhmut, Berestovoe, Soledar, Pokrovskoe, Konstantinovka and Maslyakovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
In addition, 1 Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system launcher near Seversk and 1 radar of the Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system near Barvenkovo, Kharkov Region, have been also destroyed.
Operational-tactical and army aviation have hit 3 strong points and 47 areas of concentration of AFU manpower and military equipment.
The attacks have resulted in the elimination of more than 280 nationalists and up to 59 armoured and motor vehicles.
Missile troops and artillery have hit 12 command posts, 213 areas of manpower and military equipment concentration, 24 artillery and mortar units at firing positions, and 3 ammunition depots near Chuguev, Kharkov Region.
Russian air defence means have shot down 10 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Barvinok, Chernobaevka, Lazurnoe in Kherson Region, Grakovo, Malye Prokhody, Novaya Gnilitsa and Chkalovskoe in Kharkov Region.
In addition, 17 Ukrainian Smerch multiple-launch rockets have been intercepted near Topolskoe, Malaya Kamyshevakha, Snezhkovka in Kharkov Region and Chernobaevka in Kherson Region.
In total, 172 Ukrainian aircraft and 125 helicopters, 952 unmanned aerial vehicles, 314 anti-aircraft missile systems, 3,168 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 396 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,571 field artillery and mortars, as well as 3,039 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.
• Als Reaktion auf den geplanten NATO-Beitritt von Finnland und Schweden will Russland sein Militär an der Westgrenze ausbauen und verstärken. Die russische Nachrichtenagentur TASS zitiert Verteidigungsminister Sergej Schoigu:

In the Slobozhansky direction, russian aggressor fired artillery at the positions of our troops north of the city of Kharkiv. Inflicted air strikes and conducted remote mining on the routes of possible deployment of units of the Defence Forces.
In the Slovyansk direction, russian enemy group the main efforts are focused on conducting offensive operations, regrouping troops, as well as the accumulation of material and technical resources. The enemy fired artillery at the positions of our troops south and southwest of the city of Izyum. In order to clarify the position of our troops, he conducted air reconnaissance with two Orlan-10 UAVs.
According to available information, in the area of the village of Yaremivka, russian enemy is trying to build a pontoon crossing over the Siversky Donets River.
In the temporarily occupied territories of Kharkiv oblast, the enemy continues to block the work of Ukrainian mobile operators, distributes propaganda materials, and tries to broadcast russian TV and radio channels.
In the Donetsk direction, russian enemy is trying to conduct active hostilities in the Lyman, Siverodonetsk and Bakhmut directions.
In the Lyman and Siverodonetsk directions, russian enemy fired on the positions of our units in the areas of the settlements of Lyman, Siversk, Lysychansk, and Severodonetsk.
In the Bakhmut direction, with the support of artillery, russian enemy is conducting an offensive, trying to seize new frontiers in the area of the settlement of Popasna, but has no success.
In the Kurakhiv direction, with the support of artillery and assault aircraft, russian enemy launched an offensive in the direction of the settlement of Novomykhailivka (10 km south of Marinka), but had no success.
In Mariupol, russian enemy is filtering the local population.
In the Novopavlovsk, Kryvyi Rih, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia areas, russian enemy continues to fire on units of our troops.
In the South Buh and Tavriya directions, the grouping of russian occupying forces focuses on the maintenance of the occupied frontiers, conducting reconnaissance, engineering equipment of positions and logistical support of units.

In order to prevent the offensive of our units, the bridge over the Inhulets River near Davydiv Brid was mined.
As part of the recruitment of units that suffered casualties, in the area of the village of Chornobaivka, russian enemy moved about 130 units of military equipment.
In the Tavriya direction, russian enemy took measures to provide logistics to the troops.
In the bessarabian direction, russian special services are taking measures to destabilize the situation in the region. Information about the mining of social infrastructure facilities and so-called „state“ institutions in the cities of Tiraspol, Bender, Dubossary and Rybnitsa has been spread again.

Auch wenn ich Ihren Ansatz teile, dass man die Ukraine unterstützen soll, sollte man sich dabei dennoch nicht zur ausgelagerten Pressestelle von Rheinmetall machen und vom Regen in die Traufe fallen, indem man BASF geleitete Außenpolitik nun zur Rheinmetall Außenpolitik macht, um es überspitzt zu formulieren.
Wenn Rheinmetall die Puma wie abgesprochen geliefert hätte, hätte man jetzt kein Marderproblem. Diese Frimenaussagen sind nicht unbedingt für bare Münze zu nehmen. Hatte die Tage auch einen Artikel über den Rheinmetallchef gelesen, wo er wohl den Elysee irritiert hat, weil er damit prahlte, dass er mithilfe seiner italienischen Tochtergesellschaft deutsches Exportrecht umging. Sollte man mit Vorsicht genießen und nicht ungefragt reproduzieren. Die Marderschlagzeile las sich dann im Artikel auch recht ernüchternd und sprach vom Ende des Jahres. Selbst Hr. Gressel, der bei dem Blogpodcast Gast war, versuchte das Problem zu umgehen, indem man auf die Umlaufreserve zurückgreift. Kann man vielleicht dafür sein, kann ich nicht beurteilen, aber spricht dafür, dass Firmen auch ihr eigenes Süppchen kochen.

Rheinmetall steht ja jetzt im Wort. Wenn sie es dann doch nicht halten können sollten, wird ihnen das Angebot dann eben schön auf die Füße fallen. Schaden sich damit ja nur selbst.
Die müssen schon aufpassen, was sie jetzt machen, denn für die Rüstungsindustrie verändert sich aktuell gerade sehr viel:
1. Der Ukraine sind seitens der EU und Deutschlands Mittel zur Verfügung gestellt worden, mit denen sie in eigener Verantwortung Rüstungsgüter kaufen kann (über diesen Weg wurden z.B. die 5100 Matador gekauft). Da möchte sich Rheinmetall sicher auch ins Spiel bringen als Lieferant. Das macht man aber nicht, indem man potentielle Kunden vergrätzt durch nicht eingehaltene Versprechen.
2. Russland dürfte als Rüstungsexporteur in der Zukunft große Schwierigkeiten bekommen: Einmal wegen der Sanktionen, und zweitens muss sich Russland dann nach dem Ukraine-Krieg erst einmal dem Wiederaufbau der eigenen Streitkräfte widmen, und versuchen, tausende Einheiten zerstörtes Gerät zu ersetzen. Deren bisherige Position als globaler Rüstungslieferant ist zumindest auf absehbare Zeit Geschichte.
In diese Lücke werden andere Länder vorstoßen (auch aus geostrategischer Sicht, um Abhängigkeiten bestimmter Länder von Russland zu verringern), und Rheinmetall will sicher auch dabei sein. Aber auch hier würde man seine Aussichten sicher deutlich verschlechtern, wenn man in so einer entscheidenden Phase mit nicht eingehaltenen Zusagen auffällt.

Ich würde noch um einen Punkt ergänzen:
3. Potenzielle Kunden von russischer Militärtechnik könnten auf Grund der Erfahrungen des Krieges in der Ukraine Zweifel an der Qualität dieser Waffen entwickeln und sich auch darum neue Lieferanten suchen.

Wie wollen sie einen Eindruck über die Qualität der Technik erlangen wenn sie weder wissen wie der Ausbildungsstand der Bediener war , noch wie und in welcher Situation sie eingesetzt wurde . Nach ihrer Logik ist der Leo 2 ebenfalls Schrott , da die einzigen Bilder von Einsätzen die öffentlich sind die vernichteten Fahrzeuge der Türkei in Syrien sind .
Vieles erscheint mir Hardware- zentrierte Denke. Wir leben in „Internet- Zeiten: Das einzelne Gerät ( ob Panzer oder Funkgerät ) erreicht nur durch Smartphone & App ( = Software) basierte Kommunikation eine Leistungsfähigkeit, die man beurteilen kann. So nutzt die Ukraine Satellitenschwärme von Alan Musk zur Steuerung ihrer Artillerie ( siehe YouTube Beiträge des österreichischen Heeres) und ist damit den Russen weit voraus! Vielleicht könnten auch unsere Bundeswehr- Kameraden von dieser Denke im Software & Hardware Verbund profitieren?!

Die Diskussionen der letzten Wochen hier im Blog, speziell auch zur PzH2000, haben Sie nicht verfolgt? Dann wüssten Sie, das wir so etwas ähnliches schon lange haben, heißt nur anders, macht das selbe.
Das Problem der Bundeswehr in weiten Teilen ist nicht, das es kein modernes Gerät gibt, Es gibt nur zu wenig davon, vor allem einsatzbereit.
Mr. Musk heißt übrigens Elon mit Vornamen, nicht Alan.
