Ukraine/Russland/NATO – der Sammler am 11. April 2022 (Update: Abendbriefings Kiew, Moskau)

April 2022:

• Das Morgenbriefing des ukrainischen Generalstabs:

The forty-seventh day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a russian military invasion began. A russian federation continues its full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine.
A russian enemy continues to create an offensive group of troops to act in the Slobozhansky direction. Probably in the coming days, a russian occupiers will try to resume the offensive.
In addition, a russian enemy continues to train and send personnel, weapons and equipment to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.
Weapons and military equipment are being prepared at the permanent deployment point of the 60th independent motorized infantry brigade (permanent dislocation point – Monastyryshche, Primorsky Kray) of the 5th Combined Arms Army of Eastern Military District of the of Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of russian federation. It is likely that these weapons will be moved to the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk oblast. Also, in order to recover the losses of the battalion tactical group from the 36th independent motorized infantry brigade (Borzya, Transbaikalia region) of the 29th All-Military Army of the Eastern Military District, recruits are being recruited from the brigade. The enemy feels a special problem when recruiting drivers and mechanics-drivers. Departure of the selected personnel from the point of permanent deployment is scheduled for the second half of April this year.
It is possible that the armed forces of the russian federation will carry out provocative actions in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova in order to accuse Ukraine of aggression against a neighboring state.
It is likely that a russian enemy, in order to disrupt the supply of goods to the places of hostilities, will continue to strike at transport infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in order to destroy or disable them.
Certain units of the Armed Forces of the republic of belarus continue to perform tasks to strengthen the protection of the Ukrainian-belarusian border in Brest and Gomel regions.
In the Slobozhansky direction separate divisions from a warehouse the 6th Combined Arms Army and Coastal Troops of the Northern Fleet continue to partially blockade the city of Kharkiv, and artillery shelling continues in some areas of the city.
Aerial reconnaissance of the area is underway by russian enemy in the Izium direction in order to identify the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To do this, the enemy uses the UAV „Orlan-10“.
With the help of two battalion tactical groups, the russian enemy tried to launch an offensive in the directions of the settlements of Dovhenke and Dmytrivka, that was unsuccessful, and russian enemy retreated to its former positions.
In the Donetsk direction, a russian enemy continues to focus on taking control of the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, Nyzhne and Novobahmutivka, as well as establishing full control over the city of Mariupol.
The russian enemy tried to storm the area of Zolote, but was unsuccessful.
In the city of Mariupol, with the support of artillery and aircraft, the russian occupiers continue to storm the areas of the Azovstal plant and the Seaport.
With the help of independent units, a russian enemy carried out artillery shelling of the positions of our troops in the areas of the settlements of Vysokopillya, Trudolyubivka and Maryanske.
Over the past 24 hours, the defenders of Ukraine have repulsed four enemy attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, destroyed five tanks, eight armored units, six vehicles and eight enemy artillery systems.

On Sunday April 10, high-precision sea-based Kalibr missiles on the southern outskirts of Dnipropetrovsk destroyed equipment from a S-300 anti-aircraft missile division supplied to the Kiev regime by a European country, which was hidden in a hangar. Four S-300 launchers and up to 25 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel were hit, too.
During the night, high-precision air-based missiles near Velikaya Novoselovka destroyed weapons and military equipment repair base of the Ukrainian air defence forces, including Buk-M1 and OSA-AKM anti-aircraft missile systems.
2 ammunition depots near Nikolaev and Zhovtnevoe have also been destroyed, as well as a radar of S-300 anti-aitcraft missile system in Uspenovki area.
As a result of high-precision strikes, 9 tanks, 5 Akatsiya 2S3 self-propelled artillery systems, 5 BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers and over 60 nationalists were destroyed in Vozdvizhenka-2 and Ivanovka, Donetsk Region.
Russian air defence means shot down 1 Ukrainian Su-27 aircraft in the air near Izyum.
In addition, 3 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed near Balakleya in Kharkov Region, Gulyai Polye and Volnovakha, as well as 1 Valkyrie drone near Kaliniskoe in Nikolaev Region.
Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopter has been shot down near Posad-Pokrovskoe, Kherson Region, by concentrated small arms fire.
Operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 78 military assets of Ukraine.
Among them: 3 command posts, 1 radar for illumination and guidance, 3 positions of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, 4 ammunition depots, as well as 58 strong points and areas of Ukrainian military equipment concentration.
In total, 129 aircfaft and 99 helicopters, 243 anti-aircraft missile systems S-300, Buk-M1, Osa AKM, 441 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,079 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 239 multiple launch rocket systems, 909 field artillery and mortars, as well as 2,003 units of special military vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed during the operation.

A russian enemy does not abandon plans to fully capture the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk oblast.
In the Slobozhansky direction, the russian enemy continues to partially block the city of Kharkiv, firing from multiple rocket launchers, artillery and mortars.
In the area of the city of Izium, the russian occupiers are trying to keep the borders that were captured earlier.
In the Donetsk and Tavriya directions, the russian enemy tried to storm the city of Siverodonetsk, but was unsuccessful. During the Popasna attack, it used the Tochka-U tactical missile system. Attempts to advance deep into Ukraine defences to improve the tactical situation were unsuccessful.
In the city of Mariupol, the enemy is carrying out assault operations in some areas of the city.
In the South Buh direction, the russian occupiers are trying to improve the tactical situation and gain a foothold on the administrative borders of the Kherson region. There are many cases of desertion in enemy units.
russian occupying troops are trying to carry out measures of information and psychological influence on the people of Kherson city and the oblast. To do this, they distribute information bulletins containing distorted information about the course of hostilities, substantiate the so-called „special military operation“ of the russian occupiers, impose on citizens of Ukraine registration of social benefits, including pensions in accordance with norms and rules established in the russian federation. dissemination of information about russian telegram channels in which allegedly „reliable“ information is disseminated.
Mobile patrols and posts from among the mobilized residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts operate in the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
In order to quickly replenish the losses of its troops, the occupation authorities announced another wave of mobilization of men under 65 in Luhansk. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the russian federation conduct raids on utilities and factories to identify conscripts and forcibly send them to military registration and enlistment offices.
At the same time, in Alchevsk, with the beginning of hostilities, more than 300 people among the mobilized locals lost their lives. More than 1,200 people have been brought to a hospital in Donetsk since the beginning of the large-scale war.
Among the personnel of the occupation units in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea there is information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning a counteroffensive in the Kherson region with the possibility of success and entry into the Crimean peninsula.

• Aus dem Briefing des Pentagon, notiert von Dan Lamothe von der Washington Post:

A background briefing with a senior U.S. defense official at the Pentagon was held a bit ago this morning. It’s Day 44 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A few highlights:
As has been widely documented at this point, an eight-mile convoy of military vehicles has emerged north of the Ukrainian city of Izyum. It’s “clear evidence” that Russia is following through with its goal of focusing on the Donbas region, the senior U.S. defense official said.
What’s in this new convoy? A command element, a support battalion, helicopter support and other forces, the senior U.S. defense official said.
It’s unclear what it’s planned final destination is, the official said.
The Pentagon also assesses that Russia has begun to reinforce its posture around the city of Donetsk, mostly with artillery units to the southwest, the senior U.S. defense official said.
As of Monday, Russia’s northeastern grouping of troops includes 20 battalion tactical groups, about half of which are in Ukraine (others are in Russia), the senior defense official said. The number in Ukraine has ticked up by two in the last couple of days, official adds.
That isn’t the full extent of it, however. Dozens of Russian battalion tactical groups are still arrayed across southern and southeastern Ukraine.
It’s unclear when this new Russian offensive in the Donbas might begin, the senior U.S. defense official says.
Missile strikes and airstrikes continue on Ukraine, mostly in the Donbas region, senior U.S. defense official says. He notes that the Dnipro airport was hit Sunday.
Russian claimed they hit an S-300 air defense system. U.S. sees no evidence of that, defense official says.
Mariupol is still in dire straits, with thousands of dead civilians. Russia still occupies Kherson, in the south. Russia has been unable to take Mykolaiv, but Russian forces are in between there and Kherson, senior U.S. defense official says.
While Russia is no closer than seizing Mariupol than they were last week, “we are all bracing” for what the full extent of the damage and death there is, senior U.S. defense official says.
“What is clear is that the Russians continue to sink to new lows of depravity and brutality,” the senior U.S. defense official says.
Weapons transfers to Ukraine continue with “near-constant” convoys into the country, senior U.S. defense official says. Thus far, there has been no issue getting weapons into eastern Ukraine, he adds.
The U.S. is looking for ways to train more Ukrainian forces how to use the Switchblade drones provided by the Pentagon, senior defense official says. Nothing decided.
Will the selection of Gen. Alexander Dvornikov, the so-called “Butcher of Syria,” as an overall Russian commander help the Kremlin improve its campaign in Ukraine? Not necessarily, senior U.S. defense official says. “We’re just going to have to wait and see.”
