Blick nach Afghanistan: Kämpfe rund um Kundus

Von Afghanistan ist hierzulande überwiegend im Zusammenhang mit Flüchtlingen (und der Frage, ob es ein sicheres Herkunftsland ist oder einzelne Gebiete als sicher angesehen werden können) zu lesen. Deshalb aktuell ein Blick nach Kundus im Norden Afghanistans: Die altbekannten Ortsnamen wie Dasht-e Archi, Khanabad oder Char Darrah sind wieder in den Nachrichten.

The Taliban militants have suffered heavy casualties in a series of air and ground operations in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan, local officials said Sunday.
Provincial police chief Mohammad Qasim Jangalbagh said clashes are underway in Dasht-e-Archi district as the Afghan forces are busy in clearance operations against the anti-government armed militants. He said at least 61 militants have been killed so far which include 3 of the group’s commanders and scores of others were injured.Meanwhile, at least 10 militants were killed in separate operations involving air raids in Chardara and Khanabad districts, the officials added.

More than 60 Taliban militants have been killed over the past three days as government forces launched aerial and ground operations against the armed outfit in parts of the northern Kunduz province over the weekend, police said Sunday.
According to Kunduz provincial police chief, 10 armed militants have been killed and five others were injured as air strikes targeted Taliban hideouts in Khan Abad district, Saturday night.
“The Aerial operations were conducted in Khan Abad district late Saturday night, killing 10 Taliban rebels on the spot and injured five others,” Kunduz provincial police chief Mohammad Qasim Jangal Bagh told reporters.
He also added that operations against militants have led to liberation of several villages in Chardara district over the past three days.
