The initial tranches of men called up under Russia’s partial mobilisation have started arriving at military bases. Many tens of thousands of call-up papers have already been issued.
Russia will now face an administrative and logistical challenge to provide training for the troops.
Unlike most Western armies, the Russian military provides low-level, initial training to soldiers within their designated operational units, rather than in dedicated training establishments.
Typically, one battalion within each Russian brigade will remain in garrison if the other two deploy and can provide a cadre of instructors to train new recruits or augmentees. However, Russia has deployed many of these third battalions to Ukraine.
Many of the drafted troops will not have had any military experience for some years.
The lack of military trainers, and the haste with which Russia has started the mobilisation, suggests that many of the drafted troops will deploy to the front line with minimal relevant preparation. They are likely to suffer a high attrition rate.

The two hundred-fifteenth (214) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a russian military large-scale invasion continues.
The enemy continues to focus its efforts on attempts to fully occupy the Donetsk region and hold the captured territories, as well as disrupt the active actions of the Defence Forces in certain areas. Fires at the positions of our troops along the contact line, tries to restore lost positions in certain directions, conducts aerial reconnaissance. Strikes civilian infrastructure and peaceful residential buildings, violating norms of International Humanitarian Law, laws and customs of war.
There is a threat of air and missile strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine. For example, over the past day, the enemy launched 5 missile and 12 air strikes, carried out more than 83 MLRS attacks. Also, the enemy used 4 attack UAVs to strike civilian infrastructure objects.
More than 40 settlements were affected by enemy fire. These are, in particular, Kupyansk, Kramatorsk, Bakhmut, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kamyanka, Kurakhove, Pavlivka, Zaporizhzhya, Nikopol, Ochakiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa.
The situation in the Volyn and Polissya directions has not changed significantly.
In other directions, the occupiers fired from tanks, mortars, and barrel artillery:
– in the Siversky direction – in the area of Oleksandrivka settlement of Sumy oblast;
– in the Slobozhansk direction – in the areas of the settlements of Strilecha, Odnorobivka, Veterynarne, Hatyshche, Kamyanka, Holubivka and Senkove;
– in the Kramatorsk direction – Novoselivka, Shchurove, Siversk, Hryhorivka, Belogorivka, Zakitne, Dibrova, Verkhnokamianske, Vesele, Rozdolivka, Ozerne and Spirne;
in the Bakhmut direction – Soledar, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Odradivka, Zaytseve, Klishchivka, Vesela Dolyna, Yakovlivka, Mayorsk, Nelipovka, Vyimka and Bilohorivka;
– in the Avdiyivka direction – Avdiyivka, Opytne, Pervomayiske, Novomykhailivka and Paraskoviyivka.
18 settlements were shelled by tanks, mortars and barrel artillery in the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhya directions. Among them are Yehorivka, Pavlivka, Zaliznychne, Novoandriyivka, Hulyaipilske, Hulyaipole, Uspenivka, Novosilka, Vremivka and Chervone.
In the South Buh direction, more than 27 settlements near the contact line were damaged by artillery and mortar shelling.
On the territory of the russian federation, measures of partial mobilization, announced by the russian military and political leadership, are ongoing. Rostov region is closed for entry and exit. Persons who are not at the place of registration, through relatives, are ordered to appear within three days. Personnel arriving at assembly points in the Belhorod region are given a list of what they need to purchase at their own expense, in particular, warm clothing.
The enemy is also carrying out the mentioned measures in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. From September 24 of this year, in Sevastopol, at the base of the automobile battalion of the Black Sea Fleet, the training of the demobilized began.
In the city of Svatove, Luhansk oblast, summonses for mobilization are handed out to persons who have reached the age of eighteen. Individual citizens, truck drivers, are immediately sent to military units.
At the same time, the enemy is trying to implement the declared illegal „referendum“ in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Thus, in populated areas of the Zaporizhzhya oblast, representatives of the occupation authorities, together with armed russian military, conduct house-to-house rounds, forcing local residents to participate in the so-called „referendum“. In addition, such rounds are also aimed at identifying men. The enemy carries out the same measures in the populated areas of the Luhansk oblast.
The occupiers continue to suffer losses. Another accurate hit was confirmed on September 24 of this year in the area of concentration of enemy equipment on the territory of the industrial zone within the city of Kherson. Previously, the enemy lost up to 10 units of military equipment, losses in personnel are being clarified.
Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Spirne, Soledar, Mayorsk, Bakhmut, Pidhorodne, Vyimka, Kurdyumivka, Zaitseve, Novomykhailivka, Pervomayiske, Kamyanka, Pobyeda, and Pavlivka.
Aviation of the Defence Forces made 33 strikes. It was confirmed that 25 areas of concentration of the enemy’s manpower and military equipment and 8 positions of anti-aircraft missile systems were hit. In addition, air defense units destroyed one Su-25 aircraft, Mi-8 helicopter and 2 enemy UAVs.
Missile troops and artillery, in particular, during the current day, hit 6 command and control points, 12 areas of concentration of enemy manpower and equipment, 2 positions of anti-aircraft missile systems, 3 units of missile troops and artillery, 6 warehouses with ammunition, as well as 9 separate important targets.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.
Massive fire attack launched at the bases of 14th Mechanised and 95th Airborne Assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Senkovo and Chervony Oskol (Kharkov region) have resulted in causing casualties of over 120 enemy servicemen and 15 units of military equipment.
High-precision attacks launched by Russian Aerospace Forces at the provisional bases of the ‚Foreign Legion‘ and units from nationalist groups near Svyatogorsk (Donetsk People’s Republic) have resulted in the elimination of up to 100 militants.
Missile attack launched at a forward command post of 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the AFU near Chasov Yar (Donetsk People’s Republic) during the brigade commanders‘ conference has resulted in the elimination of up to 25 Ukrainian servicemen and wounding of over 40.
8 units of special military equipment have been neutralised.
High-precision attack at a provisional base of 406th Artillery Brigade of the AFU near Ochakov (Nikolayev region) has resulted in the elimination of up to 50 militants, 10 units of military equipment and over 2,000 artillery projectiles.
Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery have neutralised 5 AFU command posts near Kupyansk (Kharkov region), Shchurovo, Kirovo (Donetsk People’s Republic), Kamyshevakha (Zaporozhye region) and Vysokopolye (Kherson region), as well as of 56 artillery units, 163 manpower and military equipment concentration areas.
3 AFU missile, artillery armament and munitions depots near Zaporozhye, Nikolayev and Kramatorsk (Donetsk People’s Republic) have been destroyed.
Fighter aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down 1 Su-24 airplane of Ukrainian Air Force near Selidovo (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Russian air defence facilities have shot down 13 unmanned aerial vehicles near Bobrovy Kut, Zalyony Gai, Ukrainka, Sadok, Novaya Kakhovka, Maksima Gorkogo (Kherson region), Molochansk (Zaporozhye region), Selidovo and Kirillovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
19 projectiles launched by HIMARS and Olkha multiple rocket-launching systems have been destroyed in air near Antonovka bridge (Kherson region), as well as near Svatovo (Lugansk People’s Republic) and Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region).
In total, 302 airplanes and 155 helicopters, 2,087 unmanned aerial vehicles, 377 air defence missile systems, 5,114 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 845 combat vehicles equipped with MRLS, 3,417 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 5,904 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
Kiev regime continues its provocations near Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
AFU artillery had been shelling at Volna suburban settlement located near the nuclear power plant.
A total of 25 projectiles have been launched from Kiev-controlled areas of Nikopol and Marganets (Dnepropetrovsk region).
Enemy firepower has been neutralised by Russian artillery’s counter-attack.
The radiation environment at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant remains normal.

The enemy is trying to restore lost positions in certain directions, conducts aerial reconnaissance and attacks on civilian infrastructure, violating the norms of International Humanitarian Law, laws and customs of war.
There remains the threat of air and missile strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine. Thus, during the current day, the enemy launched 2 missile and 4 air strikes, carried out more than 7 shellings with anti-aircraft missiles. Also, the enemy used strike UAVs in the area of Bilenke settlement of Odesa oblast.
12 settlements were damaged by the fire of the occupiers. In particular, Zaporizhzhya, Marhanets, Musiivka, Nikopol, Potemkine, Osokorivka, Mykolayiv and Ochakiv.
The situation has not changed significantly in the Volyn, Polissya and Siversky directions.
In other directions, the enemy fired from tanks, mortars and barrel artillery:
in the Slobozhanskyi direction – in the areas of Odnorobivka, Veterynarne, Strelecha, Hlyboke, Hatyshche, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, Kupyansk-Vuzlovy, Senkove, Kamianka and Holubivka settlements;
in the Kramatorsk direction – Novoselivka, Shchurove, Dibrova, Ozerne, Zakytne, Siversk, Verkhnokamianske, Viymka, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Vesele and Bilohorivka;
in the Bakhmut direction – Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Vesela Dolyna, Klishchivka, Odradivka, Zaitseve and Mayorsk;
in the Avdiyivka direction – Pervomaiske, Avdiyivka, Vodyane, Opytne, Maryinka, Paraskoviivka and Novomykhailivka;
in the Novopavlivsk direction – Vremivka, Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Mykilske and Yehorivka.
in the Zaporizhzhiy direction – Zelene Pole, Novosilka, Uspenivka, Novopil, Olhivske, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Chervone, Hulyaipilske and Novoandriivka.
More than 35 settlements near the contact line were hit by artillery fire in the South Buh direction.
The occupiers continue to hold so-called „referendums“ in the temporarily occupied and occupied territories of Ukraine.
The enemy is strengthening filtering and counter-sabotage measures. Considerable attention is paid to checking the personal mobile phones of local residents for cooperation with the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
During the day, Ukrainian soldiers repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Spirne, Soledar, Pidhorodne, Bakhmut, Mayorsk, Kamianka, Pobyeda and Pavlivka settlements.
Aviation of the Defense Forces made about 20 strikes. It was confirmed that 13 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment of the enemy, the position of armored vehicles and 5 positions of anti-aircraft missile systems were hit. Enemy losses are being refined.
During the current day, missile forces and artillery, in particular, hit 3 command and control points, 5 areas of concentration of manpower and equipment of the occupiers, 1 position of anti-aircraft missile systems, 2 units of missile forces and artillery, 3 warehouses with ammunition, as well as 12 separate important targets.
