Heavy fighting continues in southern Ukraine, including shelling in Enerhodar district, near the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Despite the war in Ukraine, on 01 September, the Russian military started exercise Vostok 22, its annual Joint Strategic Exercise, marking the culmination of the military training year.
Russia publicly claimed that 50,000 troops will take part, however, it’s unlikely that more than 15,000 personnel will be actively involved this year. This is around 20% of the forces which participated in the last Vostok exercise in 2018.
Russia’s military performance in Ukraine has highlighted that Russia’s military strategic exercises, such as Vostok, have failed to sustain the military’s ability to conduct large scale, complex operations.
Such events are heavily scripted, do not encourage initiative, and primarily aim to impress Russian leaders and international audiences.

The one hundred ninety-first (191) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a russian military invasion continues.
The enemy continues to focus its efforts on establishing full control over the territory of Donetsk oblast and holding the occupied districts of Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as creating favourable conditions for resuming the offensive.
The enemy carries out air and missile strikes on military and civilian objects on the territory of our State.
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the situation remains without significant changes. Units of the Armed Forces of the republic of belarus continue to carry out the task of strengthening the protection of the section of the belarusian-Ukrainian border in the Brest and Gomel regions.
The threat of missile and air strikes from the territory and airspace of the republic of belarus remains.
In the Siversky region, the enemy continues to hold separate units of the armed forces of the russian federation in the border areas of the Bryansk and Kursk regions. The enemy shelled the areas of Pushkari, Khrinivka, Senkivka in Chernihiv oblast and Sukhodil, Nova Sloboda and Novovasylivka in Sumy oblast with mortars and barrel artillery.
In the Slobozhansky direction, the enemy is conducting combat operations in order to prevent the loss of control over the occupied borders and logistics routes in the Kharkiv oblast. It tries to find weak points in the defense of our troops and improve the tactical position.
In the Kharkiv direction, it carried out shelling from tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of the settlements of Udy, Ruski Tyshky, Cherkasy Tyshki, Pytomnyk, Velyki Prohody, Stary Saltiv, Petrivka, Peremoha, Dementiivka, Pryshyb.
It carried out airstrikes in the areas of Shestakove, Bayrak, Ruski Tyshki and Vesele settlements.
In the Slovyansk direction, it carried out fire damage to military and civilian infrastructure using tanks, barrel artillery and multiple rocket launcher systems in the areas of Dolyna, Krasnopillya, Brazhkivka, and Dibrivne settlements.
In the Donetsk direction, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions. On the Kramatorsk and Novopavlovsk directions, it is trying to improve the tactical position, and is carrying out fire damage to our troops. Attempts are being made to constrain the actions of units of the Defense Forces and prevent them from being diverted to other directions.
In the Kramatorsk direction, it carried out shelling from mortars, tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of Bohorodychne, Hryhorivka, Donetske, Verkhnyokamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, Rozdolivka, and Vesele settlements.
It carried out an airstrike in the area of the settlement of Verkhnokamianske.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy fired mortars, tanks, barrel and jet artillery at the areas of the settlements of Sukha Balka, Yuryivka, Bakhmutske, Mayorsk, Zaytseve, Soledar, Bakhmut, Yakovlivka, Bilohorivka.
It carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Zaitseve, Vesela Dolyna, Soledar, Bakhmut, and Yakovlivka.
Units of the Defense Forces repelled the enemy’s offensive in the direction of the settlements of Bakhmutske and Bakhmut, as well as Vesela Dolyna and Mayorsk.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy fired from the available types of weapons in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Vesele, Opytne, Vodyane, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Karlivka settlements.
Our troops successfully repelled the attack of enemy units in the districts of Opytne, Pervomaiske and Nevelske settlements.
The enemy’s assaults, which it tried to carry out in the direction of the settlements of Avdiivka and Krasnohorivka, were also repelled.
In the Novopavlivskyi direction, enemy units fired mortars, tanks, barrel artillery and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka, Mykilske, Prechistivka, Velyka Novosilka, Bogoyavlenka, Novomayorsk, Neskuchne. The enemy did not conduct active offensive operations.
Enemy units did not carry out active offensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
In the South Buh direction, the enemy is concentrating on the defense of previously occupied lines and positions.
Conducted shelling of the positions of our troops and civilian infrastructure from tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of settlements of Stepova Dolyna, Oleksandrivka, Posad-Pokrovske, Prybuzke, Novomykolaivka, Lyubomirivka, Novohryhorivka, Kiselivka, Pervomaiske, Kobzartsi, Partizanske, Chervona Dolyna, Shyroke, Bereznehuvate , Velyke Artakove, Andriyivka, Novoselivka, Shevchenkove, Olhyne, Myrolyubivka, Lyubymivka and Petrivka.
It carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Lozove, Sukhy Stavok, Velyke Artakove, Khreshchenivka.
It was stopped by the Defense Forces during offensive operations in the direction of the settlement of Potyomkine.
In the Black Sea and Azov sea zones, the enemy’s main efforts are focused on conducting reconnaissance and blocking civilian shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. Carriers of sea-based cruise missiles of the Kalibr type are ready to use high-precision weapons.
Defense forces continue to attack enemy targets. Thus, in the settlement of Novoosinivka, Kharkiv Region, as a result of effective fire damage inflicted by the Defense Forces on the night of August 31 to September 1, the enemy’s fuel and oil warehouse was destroyed. The number of destroyed equipment and personnel is being clarified.
In the town of Tavriysk, Kherson oblast, on August 30, as a result of the fire damage to the location of the enemy at the former motor-transport company, the enemy lost more than 20 pieces of weapons and military equipment, the loss of manpower – to be clarified.

High-precision weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces have hit a temporary deployment point of 17th Tank Brigade near Bereznevatoye and hangars with weapons and military equipment of 46th Airmobile Brigade near Belaya Krinitsa, Nikolaev Region. The attacks have resulted in the destruction of up to 40 nationalists and 10 units of military equipment.
In addition, command staff of 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade has been destroyed to the east of Mikhailovka, Donetsk People’s Republic. High-precision strike of the Russian Aerospace Forces on the command post has killed 18 servicemen, including 12 officers, and wounded 31 others.
Due to heavy losses, the personnel of units of 110th Mechanized Brigade occupying positions near Avdeevka and Opytnoye in Donetsk People’s Republic refused to perform combat tasks and abandoned their positions.
Concentrated strikes on combat positions of 60th Infantry Brigade near Dobryanka and Novovorontsovka in Kherson Region, have killed more than 30 nationalists and wounded up to 15.
Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery strikes continue against military facilities in Ukraine.

Russian air defence means have shot down 12 unmanned aerial vehicles near Yakovenkovo, Borshchevka in Kharkov Region, Blagodatnoye, Styla and Valerianovka in Donetsk People’s Republic, Nesteryanka, Kopani in Zaporozhye Region, as well as Zelenyi Gai in Kherson Region.
1 US-made HARM anti-radiation missile has been shot down near Novaya Kakhovka in Kherson Region.
14 shells of American HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system have been intercepted near Styla in Donetsk People’s Republic, Kherson, Berislav and Novaya Kakhovka in Kherson Region.
In total, 283 Ukrainian airplanes and 151 helicopters, 1,864 unmanned aerial vehicles, 372 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,711 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 823 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,364 field artillery and mortars, as well as 5,217 units of special military vehicles were destroyed during the operation.

In particular, at night and in the morning, 5 rockets were fired at the city of Kharkiv, two of them from the S-300 anti-aircraft missile complex. Also, 23 rockets from the Grad and Uragan MLRS were fired at Ivanivka, two of which were cluster munitions. 9 airstrikes were carried out on Maryinka, Soledar, Peremoha, and Zaitseve settlements.
In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the situation remains without significant changes. Certain units of the Armed Forces of the republic of belarus are performing the task of strengthening the protection of the section of the belarusian-Ukrainian border in the Brest and Gomel regions. The enemy carried out remote demining of the terrain in the area of Lebyazhe settlement.
The Defense Forces successfully repelled the enemy attack in the area of the Husarivka settlement.
In the Slovyansk direction, enemy units fired from tanks, mortars, barrel artillery, and multiple rocket launchers at the areas of Virnopilla, Brazhivka, Dibrivne, Dolyna, Bohorodichne, Donetske, Raihorodok, and Krasnopilla settlements. The enemy did not conduct active offensive actions.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy shelled the areas of Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, Pereizne, Vesele, Rozdolivka, Hryhorivka, and Siversk settlements.
In the Bakhmut direction, enemy fired mortars, tanks, barrel and jet artillery in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Kodema, Mayorsk, New York, Sukha Balka, Yuryivka.
The Defense Forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in the direction of the settlements of Soledar, Bakhmutske, and Vesela Dolyna.
With offensive actions, units of the so-called „kadyrivtsi“ are trying to advance in the direction of the settlements of Zaitseve and Mayorsk, hostilities continue.
In the Avdiivka direction, the settlements of Tonenke, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Vodyane, Opytne, Vesele, Krasnohorivka, Heorgiivka, Maryinka came under fire.
With offensive and assault actions, the enemy tried to improve the tactical position in the directions of the settlements of Pervomaiske, Opytne, and Nevelske. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Defense Forces, the enemy was pushed back to previously occupied positions.
It did not conduct active offensive actions in the Novopavlivsk direction. Shelling of the areas of the settlements of Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Bohoyavlenka, Prechystivka, Novomayorsk, Mykilske was recorded.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy shelled objects in the areas of Novoocheretuvate, Novosilka, Vremivka, Novopil, Novodarivka, Zaliznychne, Dorozhnyanka, Novodanylivka, Bilohirya settlements.
In the Southern Buh direction, the enemy shelled the areas of Shyroke, Partyzanske, Novopetrivka, Trudolyubivka, Lyubomirivka, Shevchenkove, Luch, Stepova Dolyna, Prybuzke, Lymany, Tavriyske, Lyubimivka.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully repelled the enemy’s attack near Visokopilla and Potyomkine.
The enemy’s naval group in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas continues to perform tasks of reconnaissance and blocking civilian shipping.
There is still a threat of missile strikes on objects and infrastructure elements deep in the territory of Ukraine.
