Ukraine/Russland/NATO – der Sammler am 9. Juli 2022

The U.S. is planning to provide more assistance to Ukraine with another presidential drawdown authority security package valued at $400 million. Included in this latest set of gear and supplies is something the U.S. has previously not sent to Ukraine: 1,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery billed as having greater precision.
„This is a new type [of] 155 mm artillery ammunition,“ said a senior defense official during a background briefing today at the Pentagon. „It has greater precision. It offers Ukraine precise … capability for specific targets. It will save ammunition. It will be more effective due to the precision. It’s a further evolution in our support for Ukraine in this battle in the Donbas.“
The same official noted that the precision rounds, for use in howitzer artillery systems already in place in Ukraine, are something the U.S. military already uses and has in its own stock. The systems are new in that this is the first time the U.S. has sent them to Ukraine.
Also included in the latest package, are four additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems which will complement the eight already in place. There is also additional ammunition for those HIMARS systems, some tactical vehicles, demolition munitions, spare parts and other equipment.

The first cohort of Ukrainian soldiers taking part in a major new UK-led military programme, which will train up to 10,000 Ukrainians over the coming months, have arrived in the UK.
Around 1,050 UK service personnel are deploying to run the programme, which will take place at MOD sites across the North West, South West and South East of the UK. Each course will last several weeks and will be conducted by elements from 11 Security Force Assistance Brigade.
The training will give volunteer recruits with little to no military experience the skills to be effective in frontline combat. Based on the UK’s basic soldier training, the course covers weapons handling, battlefield first aid, fieldcraft, patrol tactics and the Law of Armed Conflict.
The Government has rapidly procured AK variant assault rifles for the training programme, meaning Ukrainian soldiers can train on the weapons they will be using on the front line. This effort was supported by the Welsh Guards, who tested more than 2,400 such rifles in 17 days to ensure they were ready for the Ukrainians to commence their training.
The UK has also gifted clothing and equipment to support Ukrainian soldiers in their training and deployment back to Ukraine. Each soldier will be issued with:
– Personal protective equipment including helmets, body armour, eye protectors, ear protectors, pelvic protection, and individual first aid kits
– Field uniforms and boots
– Cold and wet weather clothing
– Bergens, day sacks and webbing
– Additional equipment required for field conditions including ponchos, sleeping bags, and entrenching tools

• Das britische Intel Update:

Russia is moving reserve forces from across the country and assembling them near Ukraine for future offensive operations.
A large proportion of the new infantry units are probably deploying with MT-LB armoured vehicles taken from long-term storage as their primary transport.
While MT-LBs have previously been in service in support roles on both sides, Russia has long considered them unsuitable for most front-line infantry transport roles.
It was originally designed in the 1950s as a tractor to pull artillery, has very limited armour, and only mounts a machine gun for protection.
In contrast, most of Russia’s first echelon assault units were equipped with BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles in February, featuring armour up to 33mm thick and mounting a powerful 30mm autocannon and an anti-tank missile launcher.
Despite President Putin’s claim on 07 July 2022 that the Russian military has ‘not even started’ its efforts in Ukraine, many of its reinforcements are ad hoc groupings, deploying with obsolete or inappropriate equipment.

Operational update regarding the #russian_invasion as of 18:00 on July 09, 2022
The one hundred thirty-sixth (136) day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people to a russian military invasion continues.
There are no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissya directions. In order to prevent reconnaissance of border areas with Ukraine by unmanned aerial vehicles, the use of electronic warfare systems has been activated. The threat of missile and air strikes from the territory and airspace of the Republic of Belarus remains.
In the Siversky direction, the enemy used attack aircraft for an attack near Volodymyrivka, Sumy oblast.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy’s attempts to approach the city continue. The enemy tried to advance in the direction of Kochubeivka – Dementiivka with offensive actions. Ukrainian soldiers pushed back the occupiers to their previously occupied positions.
In the Male Vesele – Petrivka direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine discovered and neutralized an enemy reconnaissance group.
In the Slovyansk direction, the occupiers, using artillery, are trying to create favorable conditions for further advancement in the direction of Izyum – Slovyansk. Enemy army aircraft struck in the Chepil and Bohorodychne areas.
Our defenders successfully repelled all enemy assault attempts in the directions of Dovhenke – Krasnopilla, Pasika – Dolyna. The enemy left. Carried out remote demining of a section of the highway near Velyka Komyshuvakha.
In the Donetsk direction, the enemy continued to use the available means of fire to attack the positions of the Defense Forces and settlements close to the contact line. Delivered a missile-aircraft strike near Shumy.
Conducted aerial reconnaissance with an unmanned aerial vehicle in the Kramatorsk region. The invaders also made an unsuccessful attempt to storm in the direction of Zolotarivka – Verkhnokamyanske. Our soldiers forced the occupiers to scatter through the bushes in the Zolotarivka area with effective fire.
In the Avdiyivka, Kurakhivka, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, russian enemy continued shelling the positions of our troops with mortars, barrel and rocket artillery along the contact line. Airstrikes were recorded in Avdiivka and Novoandriivka districts.
With offensive actions, the enemy tried to improve the tactical position in the direction of Yasinuvata – Avdiyivka. It has no success, he left with losses.
The enemy’s attempt to advance in the Maryinka area was also unsuccessful.
In the South Buh direction, the occupiers continue to focus their efforts on the defense of the occupied positions and restraining the advancement of the units of the Defense Forces deep into the temporarily captured territory with available fire means.
The occupiers are demoralized by the total resistance of the Ukrainian people. It is becoming more and more difficult for russian command to replenish the units that suffer losses in the senseless war it has unleashed.
