Im russischen Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine steht am symbolträchtigen heutigen 8. Mai und, in Russland, am morgigen 9. Mai das politische Geschehen im Vordergrund – und weniger die militärische Entwicklung am Boden. Zumal dort weiterhin vergleichsweise wenig Bewegung zu beobachten ist. Der Sammler am 8. Mai 2022:
• Das britische Intel Update:
Difficulties in command and control, as well as faltering Russian performance on the front line, have drawn senior commanders onto the battlefield, likely to take personal leadership of operations.
Russian commanders rarely delegate operational authority to their subordinates, who in turn do not gain vital leadership experience.
However, it is not clear that the presence of these commanders on the battlefield has led to a refined or altered operational concept. Flawed planning assumptions and failures in sustainment continue to undermine Russian progress.
The forward deployment of commanders has exposed them to significant risk, leading to disproportionately high losses of Russian officers in this conflict. This has resulted in a force that is slow to respond to setbacks and unable to alter its approach on the battlefield.
These issues are likely to endure given the relative lack of operational command experience of the officers promoted in place of those killed.

To strengthen the defence in the area of the settlement of Kozacha Lopan, russian enemy carried out measures on the engineering equipment of the positions.
In the Izyum direction, russian enemy concentrated its main efforts on preparations for the continuation of the offensive in the Izyum-Barvinkove and Izyum-Slovyansk directions. In order to strengthen the group from the territory of the russian rederation, russian enemy redeployed two battalion tactical groups from the 35th Combined Arms Army to certain areas. russian enemy carried out artillery shelling of positions of units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
To clarify the position of our troops, the enemy continued to conduct air reconnaissance in the areas of the settlements of Izyum and Kamyanka.
In the Donetsk direction, the group of occupying russian troops continues offensive operations in the Lyman, Popasna, Severodonetsk and Avdiivka directions.
In the Kurakhiv direction, with the support of artillery, russian enemy is trying to resume offensive operations in the direction of the village of Novomykhailivka.
In the Lyman direction, as a result of assault, russian enemy captured the northern outskirts of Shandrygolov.
In the Mariupol direction, russian enemy continues to blockade our units in the area of the Azovstal plant and, with the support of artillery and tank fire, carries out assault operations.
russian enemy continues to supply weapons, military equipment, and ammunition, fuel and oil to meet the needs of the group of russian troops in this direction.
In the South Buh and Tavriya directions, a group of occupying russian troops with the support of aviation strikes at military and civilian targets, regroups and strengthens units, and increases the system of fire damage and logistics.
In the Kryvyi Rih direction, russian enemy used the Orlan-10 UAV to detect the positions of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The situation in the Bessarabian direction remains tense. Armed formations in the transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova and units of the operational group of russian troops are in full combat readiness.
Ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the russian federation in the Black and Azov Seas continue to perform tasks to isolate the area of hostilities, reconnaissance and fire support in the coastal direction.
During the previous day, one Mi-28H helicopter, seven „Orlan“ UAVs, two „Forpost“ UAVs and two cruise missiles were hit by anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, two Orlan-type UAVs were destroyed by anti-aircraft missile units of the Land Forces.
In the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, defenders of Ukraine repulsed nine enemy attacks, destroyed nineteen tanks, twenty units of armoured combat vehicles, four special armoured vehicles, six vehicles and one unit of enemy special engineering equipment.
• Die ukrainischen Streitkräfte veröffentlichten am (gestrigen) Samstag und in der Nacht Videos, die die erfolgreiche Zerstörung russischer Hubschrauber und anderer Waffen auf der Schlangeninsel im Schwarzen Meer zeigen sollen – auch das hoch symbolisch, weil diese sehr kleine Insel durch den Funkverkehr bei der russischen Eroberung früh in diesem Krieg (Russisches Kriegsschiff, fick dich) zu einem Symbol des ukrainischen Widerstands wurde. Die russischen Streitkräfte wiederum melden dort eigene Erfolge; der Propagandakrieg tobt da besonders intensiv.
Interessanterweise hat bislang allein die Ukraine von diesem Ort Videos veröffentlicht, die russische Seite noch nicht bzw. ich habe sie noch nicht gefunden. (wird ggf. nachgetragen)

The main focus of russian enemy’s efforts was to destroy the airfield infrastructure in order to prevent the actions of Ukrainian aircraft, including the Bayraktar UAV, to support the actions of air units in the area of responsibility of the Joint Forces and the Black Sea Operational Zone. In the Slobozhansky direction, russian enemy is concentrating reserves in the Belgorod region for hostilities near the state border of Ukraine. The deployment of separate units from the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District has been confirmed in these areas.
russian occupiers did not carry out active offensive operations in the Kharkiv direction. The main efforts were focused on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops. The group of russian enemies was strengthened by relocating units from the Western Military District from the area of recovery. Military and civilian infrastructure continues to be shelled.
In the Izyum direction, russian enemy regrouped its units, replenished its reserves in order to increase its offensive capabilities, and conducted air reconnaissance with the use of the Orlan-10 UAV in order to clarify the positions of Ukrainian troops.
In the Donetsk and Tavriya directions, russian enemy is fighting to restrain the actions of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
During the last day, russian enemy intensified hostilities. It is trying to reach the administrative borders of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. Carried out regrouping, replenishment of losses, increased air defense systems and logistics, presumably in order to intensify hostilities in the settlements of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.
In the Lyman direction, separate units of the 90th Tank Division tried to take full control of the settlement of Oleksandrivka, as well as, with the support of artillery, to gain a foothold in the northern outskirts of the settlement of Shandryholovo. It was not successful.
In the Severodonetsk direction, russian enemy is trying to seize the settlement of Rubizhne, but without success.
In the Popasna direction, russian enemy is trying to take up positions in the settlement of Popasna and take control of the section of the Popasna-Bakhmut highway.
russian enemy is advancing in the direction of the settlement of Novoselivka, it has no success, the fighting continues.
In the Kurakhiv direction, russian enemy is trying to improve the tactical situation in the direction of the settlement of Novomykhailivka, but has no success.
In the Mariupol direction, the intensity of hostilities has been reduced.
In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhzhya directions, russian enemy intensified air reconnaissance in the areas of the settlements of Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Komyshuvakha, and Yasna Polyana.
In the South Buh area, russian enemy is trying to hold positions with forces of up to 15 battalion tactical groups. It does not carry out active hostilities. It fired mortars, artillery and rocket-propelled grenades at positions of our troops. Carried out replenishment of losses. It used military aircraft in the area of the town of Careyerne.
Measures of the administrative-police regime in the temporarily occupied territories are underway. Thus, there is an intensification of filtering measures by rosguard units in the areas of Heroyske, Hola Prystan, and Kherson settlements.
There is a possibility that assault operations will be carried out in certain areas in order to improve the tactical situation, bind our troops and prevent the transfer of reserves.
The moral and psychological condition of russian occupiers remains low, there is a systematic use of alcohol and desertion. The personnel of russian enemy’s units complain about the ineffectiveness of their attacks on the position of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Huliaipole area.

Gibt es keine deutsche, französische oder EU Intel Update?
[Mir nicht bekannt – von den Franzosen gibt es mehr oder weniger regelmäßig aktualisierte Lagekarten; die stelle ich gelegentlich auch ein. Von Deutschland gibt es solche Veröffentlichungen nicht. T.W.]
was ich mich frage : Gehen Rußland nicht irgendwann auch mal die Marschflugkörper / Drohnen und vor allem die erfahrenen Panzerbesatzungen aus ? Gibt es Informationen wie lange die so einen Krieg auf Verschleiß durchhalten können ?

Lange sehr lange können die Russen das durchhalten… in den letzten 200 Jahren haben die Zaren oder das ZK der Partei nie Probleme gehabt Truppen oder Material an die Front zu werfen.
Dabei wird der russische Soldat ehr als „Kanonenfutter was es auf Versorgungsnummer gibt“ gesehen.
Ich habe noch die alten Feldtagebücher von meinem Urgroßvater aus dem WK1, der als Reserveoffizier und Kompaniechef an West- und Ostfront eingesetzt war. In der selben Kiste lagen dann die Feldtagebücher von meinem Großvater und Großonkel, beide die Ostfront von `41 bis `45 einmal nach Moskau und zurück mitgemacht… und eine Sache war in allen drei Tagebüchern recht ähnlich. Egal ob man hunderttausende Gefangene machte oder ganze Korps zerschlug… die Russen hatten selten Probleme ihre Verluste auszugleichen.
Wir hier im Westen lachen immer so gerne über den „Panzerschrott“ der in Russischen Depots gammelt… ja mag sein das es alles alter Mist ist aber auch der kann noch ein paar HE Granaten an den Feind bringen eh man es schafft ihn abzuschießen.
Wir vergessen auch das es in der Russischen Föderation für junge Männer keine alternative zum Wehrdienst gibt, da muss Mann irgendwann die 12 Monate abreißen oder ins Ausland gehen oder Knast wählen.
Ich bin jedenfalls mal gespannt auf Morgen…
Den Wehrdienst in Russland fällt wohl aus, wenn man bis zum 27. Lebensjahr einen PhD macht.
Mich beschleicht das flaue Gefühl, dass Putin im Rahmen der morgigen Siegesfeier auf dem Roten Platz die Generalmobilmachung und einen neuen Vaterländischen Krieg ausrufen wird. Damit würde er zwar indirekt die hohen russischen Verluste im Rahmen seiner Militärischen Spezialoperation in der Ukraine eingestehen. was ihn jedoch dazu legitimiert noch mehr humanes Kriegsmaterial für die Erreichung seiner Ziele zu akquirieren. Gleichzeitig birgt diese Strategie aber auch enorme innerpolitische Gefahren für die russische Föderation. Es wird sich dann in der Zivilbevölkerung endgültig der Spreu vom Weizen trennen, was den politischen Blickwinkel angeht. Die Hoffnung von Putin wird sein, dass die überwiegende Mehrheit Hurra rufen wird und sich ohne wenn und aber hinter die russischen Kriegsziele stellt. Möglich ist aber auch, dass einem bislang unauffälliger Anteil der russischen Bevölkerung (speziell in den großen Städten im westlichen Teil der Föderation) nun endgültig klar wird, wohin der Weg mit Putin führen wird. Ziviler Ungehorsam wäre dann ein erster Schritt, Unruhen würden folgen. Was sich daraus entwickeln kann, habe wir bei vielen Präzedenzfällen in den letzten 50 Jahren weltweit beobachten können. Chancen und Risiken liegen also am morgigen Montag dicht beieinander. Hoffen wir das Beste für die freie Welt.

Die Frage war ja aber nach Klasse, nicht nach Masse.
Moderne Drohnen, Marschflugkörper und erfahrene Panzerbesatzungen dürften sie in der Tat nur begrenzt haben, wo die Nachschubproduktion bei den beiden ersteren schwierig wird, mit all den Sanktionen. Die Zahl der erfahrenen Panzerbesatzungen wird aber eher steigen, weil ja bei weitem nicht alle abgeschossenen Panzer auch einen Totalausfall der Manschaft bedeuten.
Es läuft wohl weiter auf eine Materialschlacht hinaus, gespannt auf morgen bin ich auch, aber prinzipiell erwarte ich eher ein paar pathetische Reden und Putinauftritt und ansonsten wird wohl alles so weiter laufen wie bisher.
Ich glaube, daß der Blick auf die Weltkriege nur begrenzt aussagekräftig ist. Die Demographie Rußlands ist problematisch. Außerdem glaube ich, daß die Devise „Masse statt Klasse“ für die russische Armee generell immer noch stimmen mag, aber daß es wichtige Aufgaben gibt, die nur Spezialisten gut erfüllen können. Dafür ist der technische Fortschritt seit Breschnew dann doch zu bedeutend.
Im Blick auf den Materialnachschub ist die Frage, ob Putin bereit ist, die Depots leerzumachen, wohlwissend, daß der westliche Technikboykott eine schnelle Nachproduktion deutlich schwieriger macht.
@Küstengang01 Nun, da würde ich widersprechen wollen: „Lange sehr lange können die Russen das durchhalten…“, Russland hat die gleichen Demographische Probleme, die der Westen auch hat, die Bevölkerung wird immer älter. Das Durschnittsalter der Russen 2020 war 39,6 Jahre. 1950 lag der Durschnitt bei 24,3 Jahren. Bei 146 Mio, die Hälfte Frauen, ist der Vorrat an Wehrfähigen Männern nicht unbegrenzt, diese müssen dann auch noch wehrfähig gemacht werden. Ich hoffe dies spielt den Ukrainern in die Karten.

Das können die Russen mit Sicherheit nicht „lange sehr lange… durchhalten“.
Noch zu Zeiten des WK2 hatte Russland meines Wissens eine Geburtenrate von 4,7 Kindern pro Frau. Jede Frau gebar also 2,35 Jungen. Heute liegt die russische Geburtenrate bei, ich glaube 1,4 Kindern, also 0,7 Söhnen, pro Frau. Dies bedeutet, wenn den Russen etwas am Fortbestand ihres Volkes gelegen ist, sollten sie entweder ihre Taktik ändern oder, am allerbesten, sich komplett aus der Ukraine zurückziehen. Mit solchen Verlusten, wie in der Vergangenheit üblich und wie jetzt auch bereits in der Ukraine erlitten, wird Russland unweigerlich in eine demografische Katastrophe schlittern, wesentlich schlimmer als in Frankreich nach dem WK1, wo vor dem Großen Kriege schon die 2-Kind-Familie die Norm war.
Aber auch in der Vergangenheit ging die Taktik der menschlichen Dampfwalze niemals gegen Gegner auf, die nicht zuvor in der Defensive, tief im russischen Raum stehend, vernichtet oder hinreichend geschwächt wurden. Siehe den Russisch-Japanischen Krieg von 1904/05 und nicht zuletzt den WK1, den das Deutsche Reich gegen Russland gewonnen hat! Die heutige Westgrenze Russlands ist im wesentlichen das Ergebnis dieses deutschen Sieges von 1917.
Ich bezweifle, ob sich veralteteten Panzer gegen Infantrie weniger tödlich erweisen als die neuen Modelle. Der Qualitätsunterschied wird sich so richtig deutlich in Panzerschlachten zeigen. Dafür müssten die UKrainer aber erstmal genug neues Equipment an die Front bekommen, um sich das Risiko erlauben zu können.
Die Russen haben konstruktionsbedingt das Problem, das bei einem Treffer offenbar häufig gleich die ganze Munition mit hochgeht. Damit sollte die Anzahl Überlebender geringer sein als man vielleicht vermutet. Offenbar gibt es einigen Widerstand der Überlebenden dagegen, noch einmal in diese Hölle geschickt zu werden. Damit wird es schwer, in der Truppe Erfahrung aufzubauen.

veraltete Panzer sind gegen reine Infanterie selbstredend genauso effektiv, aber gegen entsprechend ausgerüstete Panzerabwehr- und -vernichtungstrupps eben nicht. Und das ukrainische Infanteriekonzept ist genau darauf ausgerichtet. Größere, bewegliche Panzerschlachten sind nicht das Geschäft der Ukraine und sie wären auch bescheuert, sich darauf einzulassen, weil die russische Armee zumindestens punktuell in der Lage ist, wenigstens vorübergehend Luftüberlegenheit herzustellen.
Nicht umsonst wird für entsprechende Erfolgsaussichten beim Angriff gegenüber der Verteidigung ein Kräfteübergewicht von mindestens 3:1 veranschlagt. Angesichts die Ukraine seit 2014 alles in Richtung Verteidigung ausgebaut hat, einschließlich teilweise extrem ausgedehnter und gestaffelter Stellungssysteme, dürfte die benötigte Übermacht eher in Richtung 4:1 oder gar 5:1 gehen.
Die Ukraine macht vieles richtig. Solange verteidigen, bis sich der Gegner abgenutzt zurückziehen muss und ggf. dann in den preisgeebenen Raum behutsam vorrücken, um den vorderen Rand der Verteidigung nach und nach wieder weiter nach vorn zu verlegen. Das befreit sie von der Notwendigkeit mehr als punktuell material- und personalintensive Gegenangriffe vortragen zu müssen.
