Gen. Murad Ali Murad, the deputy chief of staff of the Afghan National Army (ANA), told TOLOnews reporter early Thursday morning in Kunduz that security forces – particularly the special forces, with the help of coalition air support – have retaken control of the embattled city. He said the operation started in Kunduz city at about 11:00 pm Wednesday night. (…) Meanwhile ‎ Gen. Mohammad Qasim Janghalbagh, the Kunduz police chief, in charge of the Afghan forces‘ clearance operation, said that the city had been cleared of insurgents by 4 am local time on Thursday.

berichtet der afghanische Sender TOLO News. Von dem kommt aber auch die Meldung:

Taliban insurgents carried out a large scale attack on Khwaja Ghar district of Takhar province, which borders Kunduz, in the early hours of Thursday morning, officials said. The Taliban conducted the attack after fleeing Dasht-e-Archi district in Kunduz. Mawolavi Hassin Hanif, a Takhar provincial council member, told TOLOnews that Taliban insurgents launched the attack at about 3 am local time and captured the district.

Afghan security forces pushed deep into Kunduz in an overnight offensive to retake the city but the effort stalled because of fierce resistance, witnesses and officials said Thursday. Officials claimed early in the day that the government had driven the militants out of the city which the Taliban captured Monday. Later, however, residents reported gunbattles continuing as security forces fought to clear the city. (…) By Thursday afternoon, residents in the city center said fighting had resumed, with Afghan and Taliban forces playing a deadly game of capture the flag in the main square.
